NASCAR - Indianapolis - Brickyard 400

Indianapolis - Brickyard 400 - Crown Royal presents Samuel Deeds 400 - long 2+ mile flat track. Nothing real exciting. Jimmie Johnson lead most of race. A lot of green flag racing. NASCAR - Loudon

NASCAR - Loudon - Not the typical Magic Mile Race. I usually call this the go-cart track, because most races it is just the cars going around following each other, but today they were racing three wide around corners (without wrecking), they were passing and they actually had more than a couple of leaders. Tony Stewart ran out of gas again, when he was about a shoe in to be a winner, he had a fast car, but alas the fuel mileage foiled him again. One day maybe he will get the fuel mileage right in Loudon. Kurt Busch again shows what a good racer he can be, but a finisher he is not. He lead the most laps but was tapped by Matt Kenseth and spun out taking Ryan Newman with him, rendering him a 31st place finishing, losing 5 positions out of the top ten to 14th. Even though Jeff Gordon had a 10th place finish, and gained 2 positions to 12th, he still would not be in the chase with no wins.
Congratulations Brian Vickers!!! Good to see you racing full speed ahead again. Great racing!!!

Top Ten Recap:
1. Brian Vickers - started 13 - up a position to 53rd
2. Kyle Busch - started 4 - remains in 7th

5. Aric Almirola - started 17 - up 3 positions to 16th
6. Jimmie Johnson - started 43 - remains in 1st
7. Kevin Harvick - started 18 - remains in 4th
8. Carl Edwards - started 6 - remains in 3rd
9. Matt Kenseth - started 12 - remains in 6th
10. Jeff Gordon - started 5 - up 2 positions to 12th

Race for the Chase:
1. Jimmie Johnson - finished 6th

10. Kasey Kahne - finished 11th - up 2 positions
11. Martin Truex - finished 16th
12. Jeff Gordon - finished 10th - up 2 positions

Tony Stewart fell out of the top ten this week losing 4 positions after running out of gas on the last lap and finishing 26th, but he would still have the 2nd wild card position with a win. Jeff Gordon with no wins will be out.

Next week the Cup guys have the week off. See you in two weeks.

NASCAR - Daytona Coke Zero 400

NASCAR - Daytona Coke Zero 400 - Typical Daytona racing, edge of your seat, holding your breath, hoping no one makes a mistake. All in all good racing. A couple of crashes, drivers just losing it. Denny Hamlin was involved in a couple of the wrecks today, The second one resulting in a red flag. A big, right after taking the white flag, but NASCAR made the choice of letting them race back to the checkered, then another wreck happened as everyone scrambled to get that one more position.
Michael Waltrip raced one of his cars today, showing his restrictor place race abilities are still intact, starting 7th and finishing 5th.
Congratulations Jimmie Johnson!!! Dominating the entire race and being only the second driver to win both Daytona races in one year. Bobby Allison did it back in 1982. We have a joke going around in our house that NASCAR fixes the races. It seems when they talk about a record could be matched or broken it always happens. Just kinda weird. They said before the race today, that Johnson would be the first driver to win bother Daytona's races since 1982 if he won today and low and behold he did. He also won the 48th running of the Daytona 500.
